The lead shrank to 1-2 points, and stopped there because of the Mary Cheney flap, which showed a part of Kerry’s personality–the meanness–that people weren’t aware of. It has been a 1-2 point Bush lead ever since. Nothing has changed. The fluctations you are seeing are just margin-of-error results, up 3 points in this poll, down 2 in another. If the election were held today, Bush would win. But things could still change in the final week…”
