Read either of them and then ask yourself whether the bureaucracy at GM could be even half as bad as most of the bureaucracies in the federal government, which have never — ever — been subjected to real competition and all that entails. If the story of GM’s atrophy seems plausible to you, how could the government be immune to the same problems?
