Gowdy Returned the Tea Party Leadership Fund Donation

A quick update to this morning’s Corner item about Trump spokesman Katrina Pierson spending October sending fundraising e-mails for a nonexistent Trey-Gowdy-for-Speaker campaign: It turns out Gowdy wouldn’t accept the meager $2,000 that Pierson’s group, Tea Party Leadership Fund, contributed.

“When the Tea Party Leadership Fund contributed to Congressman Gowdy, he returned it in full as soon as it was discovered,” Gowdy’s spokeswoman Amanda Duvall said today.

Duvall told the New York Times in October, ”These outside groups use members’ names, not just his, without their knowledge and mislead people to think they support or are connected to a group when they are not.”
