Appearing on CBS’s Face the Nation, South Carolina senator Lindsey Graham told host Bob Schieffer that he believes the nation is headed over the fiscal cliff. In response to remarks earlier in the program by Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, Graham said, “I think we’re going over the cliff” because “this offer doesn’t remotely deal with entitlement reform in a way to save Medicare and Medicaid and Social Security from imminent bankruptcy.” Graham called the president’s plan for entitlement reform “a joke” and said that he does not believe the White House is serious about finding a deal. “It’s pretty clear to me they’ve made a political calculation,” he said.
