Let me join my Corner colleagues in recommending the new book Grand New Party. It is already one of the few books that I think one needs to read to be part of the conversation about how conservatives can go back on offense. As somebody who worries a lot about how to increase, not give up on, the market orientation of the American economy in the face of rising inequality, I think the focus of the book on how to build institutions that support non-college-educated citizens is centrally important.
Those in the DC area can join me at a book event tonight at 6:30 PM. We can start a chant to get Reihan to lay down some tunes, maybe including the greatest cover of an Elvis Costello tune in history.
