So, I just read the story about Larry Summers nodding off, chin in hand, while the president spoke. (Here.) It reminded me of a classic WFB moment. Someone asked him — Laugh-In, I think — “Mr. Buckley, why is it that you debate sitting down? Is it that you can’t think on your feet?” And Bill says, “My legs can’t bear the weight of what I know.” Well, maybe Summers can plead that his brain is too big to allow a constantly upright head. (Incidentally, Summers was the youngest person ever to receive tenure at Harvard — an institution that began in 1636. Kind of a cool distinction.)
