The Corner

A Great American Tradition

Alas, I haven’t followed wrestling since the days of Lou Albano, the Iron Sheikh, Sgt. Slaughter, and Andre the Giant. But perhaps this e-mail will elicit responses from our wrestling addicts, such as Stuttaford and Lopez. From a reader:

Jonah,

I am shocked that there has been no mention on National Review Online of last night’s 25th anniversary of the great American spectacle that is Wrestlemania. This American tradition deserves recognition on the great American blog that is the Corner.

Pro Wrestlers are notorious for there conservative politics, including some of the biggest stars of all time, such as: Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels, Sting, Dusty Rhodes, etc. In addition to that, every year the WWE flies their talent overseas to entertain our troops and give them a homegrown slice of Americana.

Come on Jonah, give some Corner love to this wonderfully absurd, uniquely entertaining, and very American pro wrestling extravaganza.
