Great News: The Jobs Report Isn’t Biased Anymore!

Today’s jobs report was both weak and weaker than expected, with only 12,000 jobs added last month. You’ll be shocked to learn that the same jobs report done by the same people at the same Bureau of Labor Statistics that was supposedly cooking the books for Democrats two months ago is now a trustworthy source of information about how Democrats have been terrible for the economy.

Let’s compare what some people were saying in August about the jobs report and the BLS with what they’re saying now:

  • Trump 2024 National press secretary Karoline Leavitt
    • August 21: “The Harris-Biden Administration LIED to the American people about their jobs numbers. This is an egregious form of ELECTION INTERFERENCE!”
    • Today: “This jobs report is a catastrophe and definitely reveals how badly Kamala Harris broke our economy.”
  • Trump senior adviser Jason Miller
    • August 20: “This isn’t a ‘revision’ . . . this is a LIE! And it’s Election Interference! The Harris Administration has been cooking the books the entire time and now it’s caught up to them!”
    • Today: “12,000 jobs?????? That’s it – only 12,000 jobs created in the entire country last month??? This is only 1/10 of what an already rounded-down, pessimistic estimate looked like. What a f***ing disaster for @KamalaHarris.”
    • Two minutes later, as though realizing the inconsistency: “And you know these numbers were cooked just like all the other Harris-Biden numbers (remember the 818,000 missing jobs?) – once they ‘revise’ these numbers down in a few months I bet the country LOST jobs last month.”
  • Donald Trump Jr.
    • August 22: “The Harris regime has done this over & over. Almost every time they overestimate job numbers & then revise them downward. This revision is next-level insane! The economy is crashing & they’re lying to Americans to get them to believe they’re doing a good [sic] instead of FAILING BADLY!”
    • Today, commenting on a post about the jobs report: “Kamala broke the economy, Trump will fix it.”
  • “Trump War Room” campaign account
    • August 20: “MAJOR: Kamala was cooking the books the whole time — and lying to the American people while she did it.”
    • August 22: “PRESIDENT TRUMP: They DEFRAUDED the public by over reporting 818,000 jobs.”
    • Today: “BRUTAL: Just 12,000 jobs were created last month — FAR fewer than the 100,000 jobs economists expected. 46,000 manufacturing jobs were lost last month.”

This is the last jobs report before the election. Is it election interference in favor of Trump for the BLS to report about 90,000 fewer jobs than expected right before millions of people vote?

The administration was never manipulating the jobs data. People who claim otherwise think you’re stupid. Don’t prove them correct.
