Linda Greenhouse thinks that conservative commentators including me have “perpetuated” a “widespread misunderstanding” of a recent Supreme Court case by making it sound as though it were “about nuns.” It’s about the rights of female employees, she says.
Actually, it’s about whether the law lets the government make the Little Sisters of the Poor and other religious employers facilitate contraceptive coverage for their employees, which is exactly what I said. Greenhouse herself has in the past written about this dispute with an emphasis on the Little Sisters. She now realizes that talking about them does not help the liberal position look reasonable. Tough luck for her.
In that earlier article, Greenhouse got basic facts of the case wrong. She has never corrected herself. Too busy, I guess, accusing other people of perpetuating misunderstandings.
P.S. While we’re on the subject of accuracy, the name is spelled “Ponnuru.”
