David Axelrod did his best to defend President Obama’s controversial promise that Americans could keep their health-care plans if they liked them under Obamacare, before he eventually admitted that “hindsight is 20/20.”

“You were in the White House, you were advising the president on the kinds of things he should say, why did not you or somebody else say to him, ‘Mr. President, don’t say “no matter what you’re going to keep your health-care plan?”’” David Gregory asked Axelrod on Meet the Press. “Was that bad practice?”

Axelrod repeated his new claim that, while some will lose their plans, a “vast majority” of Americans will be able to keep their insurance.

“He said, ‘Period, this is absolutely . . . everyone’s going to keep their insurance’ — why not correct?” Woodward further pressed. Axelrod admitted that the White House “didn’t anticipate this one glitch.”
