I found your piece very persuasive but hate to see you make a very common mistake.
There is no such word (compound or otherwise) as “heart-wrenching” . The correct word is “heart-rending”, that is “rend” as in tear . There is also the word “gut-wrenching”, that is “wrench” as in twist.
