What is it with American liberals and nuns who take care of dying people?
My blood boils when I read that New York State’s “Bill of Rights for Long-Term Care Facility Residents who are LGBTQ or Living with HIV” is being used to bully a group of Dominican nuns in Hawthorne who have been taking care of the dying for over a century. This is so needless; the nuns are offering care as only they can. Those men whose shuffling off of the mortal coil must be accompanied by nurse aids snapping “you go girl” surely have other options.
I understand that if the state gives any reimbursements, it will try to set all the rules, even rules on speech that touch on metaphysical questions.
Again, I submit to Francis Fukuyama that religious doctrines have not been set aside away from political controversy.
