Happy Halloween

Today, in the spirit of Halloween, we have a bonus Between the Covers — a podcast interview with Mary Downing Hahn, an author of ghost stories for kids. Her latest title is The Ghost of Crutchfield Hall. It’s a very good book aimed at children aged (roughly) 10 or 12. Another excellent book by Hahn is Wait Till Helen Comes. I’m reading it to my own brood right now. In our ten-minute conversation, we discuss why kids are attracted to ghost stories, how she keeps her stories from becoming too scary, and whether she believes in ghosts. She gives a good interview. If you’re in the market for better-than-average fiction for kids, check her out.
