The Happy ‘Queen of Rage’

I still remember when I knew that the U.S. women were going to lose the championship game of the world cup. I’m not a soccer fan, but I’m sucker for nationalistic sports events, so I was watching with the sound down and when time ran out in over-time after Japan had tied it, the Japanese coach gathered his players around him and started practically dancing a jig. He was loose and joyful, and I thought “uh-oh.” On their sideline, the Americans were as glum as could be expected given the late goals they’d given up in regulation and overtime. I thought of that when Costa posted a couple of videos the day before the Ames straw poll. Bachmann was literally dancing, while Pawlenty — looking like he hadn’t slept in two weeks — grimly pronounced her not ready to be president. It’s so important that candidates seem to enjoy campaigning and Bachmann appears to be a happy warrior, or if you prefer, per Newsweek, a happy Queen of Rage.
