Happy Saint Cecilia’s Day

Have a poem set to music, shared catholically. I like the way Britten’s first movement clarifies Auden’s meter by construing some of the irregular feet as dactyls two notes of which are tied.

(P.S. About the meter — listen only to the voices singing all of the words, in triplets. In addition to feet in which two notes are tied, there are some that begin with a stressed rest, and others in which all three notes are tied. 10:52 p.m.)
