In the wake of the Court correcting its decades’ long error and overturning Roe, one of the main responses from flabbergasted progressives has been, “Well, if you’re going to take the right to choose away from women, at least force fathers to be responsible for their children!”
To which pro-lifers and conservatives have responded, with no small amount of perturbation at having been ignored for so long, “Yes, exactly. We’ve been saying this since 1973, and far longer.”
But other progressives have taken a rather different stance. Asked about the Dobbs ruling on CNN, Vice President Kamala Harris had this gem to offer: “If you are a parent of sons, do think about what this means for the life of your son and what that will mean in terms of the choices he will have.”
You mean, like he’ll have to take responsibility for his children and become a father, rather than cough up $500 for a hasty abortion or, worse, coerce the mother of his child into choosing abortion so he can get himself off the hook? It’s on occasions like this when I wonder if the vice president can even hear herself.
