A few days ago, I asked any of you big Republican donors out there to tell me if you’ve received a letter from Accountable America. The group, formed by former MoveOn.org operative Tom Matzzie, is reportedly sending threatening letters to big GOP donors, in the words of the New York Times, “alerting donors who might be considering giving to right-wing groups to a variety of potential dangers, including legal trouble, public exposure and watchdog groups digging through their lives.” The Times reported that as many as 10,000 donors would begin receiving the letters this week.
It’s Friday, and so far I haven’t received any word. One Republican who would certainly be on any mailing list sent me a note this morning to say he hasn’t received anything. When I posted my request a few days ago, several people wrote in to say that Accountable America posted the letter on the web last week, which is true. But what I would like to know is whether the group has sent the letter to any individual Republican donors. So the question again: Has anyone received this letter?
