Have You Ever Had Anyone Celebrate Your Birthday?

One of the things I’ve learned from the Sisters of Life — who love pregnant women back into life — is that there are many people who have never had anyone celebrate their birthdays.

Today is my birthday. And in gratitude for my life — and parents who celebrated my birthday as a blessed day — I have a favor to ask: Would you please donate to the Sisters of Life? They take women and babies in and become family to them, long-term. They love. With joy, they witness to men and women and children about the goodness of their lives and make flourishing plausible.

This is my first birthday since the end of Roe v. Wade, and so I’m going to try to give more than usual. We all need to be more generous and creative about building a culture of life and civilization of love. The Sisters of Life give their lives for God and life. How much more can we help them?

Someone I love reminded me that payday is a day when generosity is more possible, so I will be running this campaign beyond today. Thank you for whatever you can give.

Here’s the birthday-campaign link for donating.

And also, as a gift to yourself, please sign up for the sisters’ beautiful magazine, published three times a year — it’s free thanks to help from the Knights of Columbus. It will inspire and edify you and those you love.
