Heck, There Are Americans Who Believe This

Just saw your post about the taxicab form. You might be interested to know that on WMAL’s Chris Plante show this morning a clearly foreign-born caller vehemently insisted that the US Constitution says that, once a person enters the US, even if illegally, he is entitled to stay. Not that such people have all the legal rights of citizens or are entitled to due process or schooling or anything like that — but that they have the constitutional right to remain.

Clearly this man is uninformed, and until very recently I would have said he must be delusional. But given the way the government acts, the tenor of public debate, and the way rumors and urban legends can circulate, I would not be surprised if some number of immigrants has not come to believe that this is actually true.
