My column today is about the 99 percent tumblr. Put aside the lefty politics and it’s a devastating portrayal of the ravages of the Great Recession. More than anything else, it’s an indictment of the jobless recovery and high health-care and higher-education costs. Republicans should obviously be seeking to connect on these issues. I’d think this would be a natural moment for Rick Perry, who has done more work than any other Republican in trying to shake up the academic complex and reduce college costs, to talk about his ideas to reform higher education.
