The Corner

Hello 21st Century!

As many readers probably recall, I’ve long yearned to get a wireless mobile doohickey for my laptop. I finally got one. This is hardly cool or exciting for many of you who’ve been enjoying this technofreedom for a long time. But, for me this great news.

One of the hold-ups has been that I’m a Mac guy and my cell provider is Sprint. I’ll spare you all the details. But for those of you who’ve wanted updates on my quest, here’s what you need to know.

Except for one wireless card provided by Verizon, there’s really no customer support for Macs. Sprint will tell you that you can’t use their card on a Mac as will most Verizon techies. And even if you get one and make it work for your Mac — which many more tech savvy Mac-users have done — the companies won’t give you customer service or honor a warranty if you use their cards on a Mac.

But there’s a website called Evdo-Info.com which will provide you with all the answers. They will sell you a broadband wireless card for a Mac and they will activate it for you and send it to you with the easiest instructions possible. They guarantee their work and will provide customer service support. I cannot tell you how attentive and helpful they were. The whole thing went great and I am now posting this using my new doohickey. I haven’t road tested it yet. But so far the speed is great. The process was easy and I couldn’t be happier with these folks — so far. I’ll let you know if I run into trouble. But for Mac people wanting a little tech help and some peace of mind, these guys seem to be the go-to operation. Obviously, they also work with and for PC people too.
