Here’s the Deal

I mentioned Burt Folsom of Hillsdale College earlier today — and neglected to point out that he’s the lunch speaker at tomorrow’s National Review Institute conference on the future of conservatism. The timing hardly could be better, with all of the liberal happy talk about the need for a New New Deal, as if the Old New Deal was anything but a huge economic blunder that extended the life of the Great Depression. Folsom is an engaging speaker and the author of New Deal or Raw Deal? How FDR’s Economic Legacy Has Damaged America. I expect to consult him and his book, again and again, as we enter the Age of Obama. If you’re in DC, you should make time to see him tomorrow.

John J. Miller is the national correspondent for National Review and the director of the Dow Journalism Program at Hillsdale College. His new book is Reading Around: Journalism on Authors, Artists, and Ideas.
