Here’s the Deal

I mentioned Burt Folsom of Hillsdale College earlier today — and neglected to point out that he’s the lunch speaker at tomorrow’s National Review Institute conference on the future of conservatism. The timing hardly could be better, with all of the liberal happy talk about the need for a New New Deal, as if the Old New Deal was anything but a huge economic blunder that extended the life of the Great Depression. Folsom is an engaging speaker and the author of New Deal or Raw Deal? How FDR’s Economic Legacy Has Damaged America. I expect to consult him and his book, again and again, as we enter the Age of Obama. If you’re in DC, you should make time to see him tomorrow.

John J. Miller, the national correspondent for National Review and host of its Great Books podcast, is the director of the Dow Journalism Program at Hillsdale College. He is the author of A Gift of Freedom: How the John M. Olin Foundation Changed America.
