The Corner

Hey Man, Sing Me a Song, cont.

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about the new Five for Fighting album, Slice. Last night, at the sold-out FFF acoustic show in Virginia, I heard a bunch of the news songs live. From what I can tell, “Chances” is already something of a hit. “Slice,” the title track, is a great song, too — maybe my favorite on the new album. FFF also played “Tuesday,” which John Ondrasik introduced as a reflection on 9/11 and his concern that America is slipping back into a 9/10 mentality.

The tour will go on for a few more weeks: This is a great chance to hear great music in really small venues. Last month, I went to a U2 concert and practically needed binoculars to see the band. Last night, my daughter took home a guitar pick tossed to her from stage.
