I concede that there are shoots, here and there — or an absence of thistles. We talk about MSNBC, Romney, and race. We talk about Bill and Hillary Clinton. We talk about Harry Reid and the erosion of democracy. We talk about New York City’s red dawn, in the form of the new mayor.
