The Nations latest press release informs me that the Huffington Posts media critic (who knew they had one? Physician, Heal thyself!) argues in the latest issue that Keith Olbermann is the — wait for it! — “Edward R. Murrow of the 21st Century.” I nominate it for the most silly, click-my-ruby-slippers-to-make-it-so, head-past-the-sphincter butt-kissing media piece of the year. An excerpt:

In short, what CBS (and all the others) need is a new Ed Murrow. Good news! Theres already one out there on the launchpad who has demonstrated his qualifications. Im talking about Keith Olbermann of MSNBC. He has the journalistic chops and the mind, heart, instincts and courage.

It only gets more sycophantic and less rigorous from there.
