I suspect this is someone’s idea of pot-stirring fun rather than anything serious, but Politico is floating the idea that David Brooks is in the mix to replace Robert Gibbs. Again, I doubt there is any there there, but it’s funny nonetheless because it would be so stupid.

Don’t get me wrong, I think Brooks might do a great job (he also might be too honest and even — yes, I’m going to say it — too conservative to defend all of Obama’s policies). But tapping Brooks would buy him little to nothing with his base — or with the GOP. It would also be a less than obviously smart play for Brooks’ own career.

It’s one of those moves that sounds clever and bold inside the bunker and incredibly daft outside of it.
