The Communitarians are suggesting, earnestly as ever, that it would be a waste to put Hillary Clinton on the ticket as vice president, an inherently unimportant office, when she could be given the job of Secretary of HHS. This, they note, would allow her to improve each of our lives for some time to come, by finally enacting her health-care plans. As if that weren’t frightening enough, note the reader response: Many feel she would be best used, to improve our lives, on the Supreme Court. Happily, I doubt that the putative nominee is concerned, foremost, with how Hillary can improve our lives. Positioning her to do no harm might be his goal too.
