And Now They Go for the Rout

As Jonah pointed out in a G-File a week or two ago, the Democrats started out by arguing that Donald Trump was such an outlandish figure that he couldn’t even truly be considered a Republican; now, with Election Day just two weeks away and Trump performing badly, they are seeking to use him to sink as many Republicans up and down the ballot as possible. President Obama is making a big push in state legislative races. And Hillary’s strategy has widened out to include, among other things, spending in states she doesn’t expect to win to help Senate and gubernatorial candidates. All things considered, other Republicans on the ballot have weathered Trump’s struggles okay, but some party officials have always feared a late break, which Democrats are hoping for and positioning themselves to take advantage of.
