Hillary on E-Mails: ‘It Is Like a Drip, Drip, Drip.’

The big headline out of the Sunday shows this morning is Hillary Clinton’s appearance on Meet the Press, where she spent nearly the entirety of the interview insisting she had nothing wrong, that the whole controversy about her private e-mail server is a confusing distraction, and that the accusations that she sought to impede Congressional investigators or FOIA requests are “ridiculous.”

NBC’s Chuck Todd asked her, “It has the feel of a drip, drip, drip. Can you reassure Democrats that there’s nothing else here?”

“It is like a drip, drip, drip. And that’s why I said, there’s only so much that I can control,” Hillary said. “But what I have tried to do in explaining this is provide more transparency and more information — more than anybody, that I’m aware of, that served in the government — and I’m happy to do that, because I want these questions to be answered. I can’t predict to you what the Republicans will come up with, what kind of charges or claims they might make. I have no control over that. I can only do the best I can to try to respond.”

She added, “the Justice Department has the e-mails, they have the server, they’re conducting a security inquiry. They will take whatever necessary steps are required to get this matter resolved.”

At another point, Todd asked Clinton to “respond to another alternate explanation” and she interrupted with “Another conspiracy theory?” and her trademarked forced laugh.

Hillary said it was “totally ridiculous” to claim she wanted to make it more difficult for congressional investigators and FOIA requests to obtain her e-mails.

She later insisted “more than 90 percent” of her work-related e-mails were on the system.
