In collaboration with Hillsdale College, NRO has been presenting an online course, Americna Heritage. The latest section is entitled “Progressivism,” and features Hillsdale professor of history Paul Moreno and National Review’s John J. Miller. In this eighth Q&A session for the course, Professor Moreno answers questions submitted by course participants.
Topics include the an overview of early Progressive presidents, such as Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson, and especially their common dedication to statism, the belief that the problems associated with the urban and industrial revolutions required government to assume a more active and powerful role in the lives of citizens.
