Holder: Government Can’t Kill U.S. Citizens Without Imminent Threat

During the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing this morning, Senator Cruz (R., Texas) and Attorney General Eric Holder tangled over the question of whether the Constitution allows for the U.S. government to kill a U.S. citizen on American soil if he doesn’t pose an imminent threat. After sparring over whether it would even be “appropriate,” Senator Cruz extracted from Attorney General Holder the admission that it would be unconstitutional: “Let me be clear, translate my ‘appropriate’ to ‘no,’ I thought I was saying no.”
