Holder: Gun Control Needed to Prevent Weapons ‘From Falling into the Wrong Hands’

Speaking at the U.S. Conference of Mayors this afternoon on the issue of gun control, attorney general Eric Holder pushed for legislation “imposing tough penalties on gun traffickers who help funnel weapons to dangerous criminals.”

Holder, who was held in contempt of Congress last year for his involvement in Operation Fast and Furious, the government program that resulted in running firearms to Mexican gun smugglers, called to “strengthen our ability to stop guns from falling into the wrong hands and to stem the proliferation of military-style weapons and high-capacity magazines.”
