Homeland Security and Federalism: Protecting America from Outside the Beltway

This book by former DHS official Matt Mayer is a must read for anyone interested in homeland-security issues. It’s a great account, by an insider, of what went wrong with America’s homeland security. It also offers some great ideas for how to fix the system. More importantly, I think Matt’s book puts the focus where it should be, and that is on federalism.
