House GOP’s Third Volley: One-Year Delay of Individual Mandate and Vitter Amendment

House Republicans will, as expected, cull down their demands once again, sending a third volley over to the Senate that would delay the individual mandate in Obamacare for one year and also move to eliminate an Obamacare subsidy for lawmakers and their staffs.

Republicans hope the move will upend the current dynamic in which Senate majority leader Harry Reid has stood firm. To reject this plan, “The Senate Democrats have to stand up and say Congress should be treated differently,” says Representative Bill Shuster (R., Pa.).
