House Leaders Huddle

Speaker John Boehner and majority leader Eric Cantor met this afternoon with House minority leader Nancy Pelosi and minority whip Steny Hoyer at the Capitol. “Reps. Pelosi and Hoyer asked for the meeting, and as we’ve stated publicly, we’re willing to meet with any Democratic leader who is willing to talk,” says Michael Steel, Boehner’s spokesman, via e-mail.

A House Republican tells me the terms of a short-term debt-limit extension are being discussed, but nothing is finalized. House Democrats want to reopen the government, and Boehner has his own considerations.
