Yesterday, Mark Krikorian rebuked “those on the right who tell me that they welcome illegal immigration as a way of liberating businesses from having to coddle lazy and shiftless blacks.” I would think someone who, as a prominent immigration restrictionist, has had the race card played against him so often, Mark would be careful about playing it himself. There may be enthusiasts for mass and even illegal immigration who hold the repulsive attitudes Mark describes–as there are opponents of immigration who hold similarly repulsive attitudes–but this debate is dreary enough without implying that such people are the rule rather than the exception on each side.
