How Did Sotomayor Get So Much Wrong?

Guy Benson has a good rundown of Rochelle Walensky yesterday gently correcting misinformation from Sonia Sotomayor.

Guy comments, “It would be fascinating to know where Sotomayor got her embarrassingly bogus stats, assuming she got them somewhere other than the top of her head in the moment.”

Why did she get so much wrong? Well, if nothing else, she showed she’s incredibly careless with the facts — not a good quality in a judge. Otherwise, I suspect she gleaned her supposed information from loosely following the mainstream press, and only the mainstream press. This is a formula for picking up false narratives that a certain kind of person — such as a highly partisan progressive Supreme Court justice — has no idea might be unreliable.
