How to Handle Loss

Except for his unsuccessful run for Congress in 1978, George W. Bush has never himself had a night like last night. He has won every election in which he either ran or of which he was the implicit subject: Governor in 1994, reelection in 1998, presidency in 2000, midterm 2002, reelection 2004. (Of course he lived through his father’s defeat in 1992, but that wasn’t his defeat.) How will he deal with the results of this election, which represent a very serious slap in the face to him personally? It will be interesting to watch.
