So, yesterday, at the urging of the State Department, the Iraq Study Group, and foreign policy specialists everywhere, we sat down face to face to “engage” Iran–the regime whose motto, backed up by its actions, is “Death to America.”
Today, having taken our measure, the Iranians announced that they have formally filed charges of endangering national security and espionage against the three American citizens they have imprisoned for weeks–three Americans who, by the way, have been idealistic champions of engagement with Iran.
I’d say that’s a pretty clear message … but, then again, I thought Khobar Towers was a pretty clear message, so what do I know?
