The Human Rorschach Test

I just never cease to be astonished by the way Sarah Palin drives some people crazy. Something about what she is—quite apart from anything she says or does—just turns some on the left into complete raving yahoos.

I tried my hand at thinking this through a bit a couple of years ago, here, but I certainly couldn’t claim to really understand it. It’s like she elicits some kind of deep sub-rational panic that often seems to have pretty much nothing to do with the actual merits and defects of Palin herself.
