Huntsman to Endorse Romney

Not only is Jon Huntsman quitting the race, as Bob noted; he’s also endorsing his top rival Mitt Romney, reports ABC News:

Huntsman spokesman Tim Miller said the former ambassador to China and Utah Governor was “proud of the race that he ran” but “did not want to stand in the way” of rival Mitt Romney, the current front-runner for the Republican nomination.

Huntsman plans to endorse Romney at an 11 a.m. press conference Monday in Myrtle Beach, SC.

I’m surprised to hear that Huntsman is endorsing Romney so promptly. He’s been very tough on Romney this cycle — one of his harshest critics in fact — and in 2008, Huntsman supported John McCain, not Romney, so there’s no ties there.

UPDATE: And the scrubbing of history has already begun. Huntsman’s YouTube channel no longer includes the several web videos the campaign made that were critical of Mitt Romney. And ScaredMittless2012.com and 10KBet.com, two sites the Huntsman campaign started to attack Romney, both direct visitors to Yahoo.com now.
