Huzzah For The White House

The White House has issued a surprisingly strong statement in favor of Jim Sensenbrenner’s border security bill. The bill is only one small piece of what needs to be done, and I still think the administration is up to something, but I’m happy to see it nonetheless. During debate in the House, the Dems mostly objected to the provisions that would tighten up asylum, with John Conyers saying they were like the relocation of the Nisei during WWII (isn’t everything?). I’m told that at one point Barney Frank quoted Leviticus to make some point about asylum; I assume he’s very selective in quoting Leviticus.
