‘I Brake for Frogs’

I loved a line from an AP report. You know that problem up in northern Greece, with the millions of frogs covering the roads? The Salonika traffic-police chief — “Salonika” is the old way of saying “Thessaloniki,” which I still like — spoke of a “carpet of frogs” on the main highway. And now let me quote the AP: “Authorities closed the highway after three car drivers skidded off the road trying to dodge the frogs. No human injuries were reported.”

I loved that “no human injuries.”
