. . . for my Montreal Canadiens as the NHL playoffs progress — they’re now set to face off against the Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins — but I have to give them credit for an amazing accomplishment. They upset the team with the best record in the league, and they did so from a highly unlikely starting point. In the words of the AP report: “Montreal allowed more goals than it scored this season and only qualified for the playoffs on the final weekend, sneaking in with the worst record of any of the 16 teams in the postseason.” Also, condolences to the Caps fans — as a Mets fan, believe me, I know how it feels.
