Senate Democrats are, as you’d expect, doing everything possible to delay and obstruct Trump nominations. At this pace, some key ambassadorial nominees, for instance, might be lucky to get confirmed about a year from now. Senate Republicans have talked about—I know this sounds radical—working on Fridays and otherwise making Senators stay in Washington, D.C. for more Summer days than they’d expect —the scheduling equivalent of the nuclear option. So far the talk is not producing much follow through, but it should—no one likes swampy D.C. in July or August, but this is important.
