Introducing I Love You, But I Hate Your Politics

As one half of a politically divided marriage — I’m married to Rick Brookhiser — I know how easy it can be to let politics bring toxicity into your relationship. That’s why I started I Love You, But I Hate Your Politics, a new podcast and forthcoming book. In the first episode, I talk to CNN’s John Avlon and Margaret Hoover.

John and Margaret first met while working in one of the most partisan environments around: a presidential campaign. But while Margaret grew up fighting for her tribal political identity — she’s the great-granddaughter of President Herbert Hoover — John felt that political partisanship itself was a significant problem. It all came to a head as the couple was on the cusp of marriage . . . and Sarah Palin is (partially) to blame. You can listen to the full episode on Apple Podcasts.
