I Stand Corrected

Yes, indeed, the matter under debate is “immigration policy.” And yes, the convictions that laws should not be broken and that American citizenship has special meaning are at the heart of what it means to be a conservative in America today. Having said all that, I think it is fair to describe some people as pro-immigration and some as anti-immigration, because of a difference in belief about whether America is, overall, strengthened by immigrants or weakened by them.
