If Biden Believes Student Loans Are Like PPP, He Should Publish the Names of Every Applicant

It occurred to me today: If, as he emphatically insists that he does, Joe Biden truly believes that his illegal student-loan order is similar to the Paycheck Protection Program that was passed by Congress in 2020, then he ought to add a provision to it that echoes the mandatory-disclosure rules that were attached to PPP.

In October, Biden said:

“I don’t want to hear it from MAGA Republican officials who had hundreds of thousands of dollars of debts, even millions of dollars, in pandemic relief loans forgiven, who now are attacking me for helping working- and middle-class Americans,” he said.

Biden only knows about that because every PPP recipient was catalogued by the federal government. Personally, I think the comparison between the two is creepy, cynical, and stupid — and not just because the forgiveness in PPP was explicitly contrived by Congress while Biden’s illegal order was not. But Joe Biden doesn’t think it’s creepy, cynical, and stupid; he thinks it’s accurate. So let’s make the two programs more similar. As of today, the White House should start publishing the names of every single person who has tried to get their student loans paid off by everyone else. Not only would this demonstrate that Biden believes what he’s saying; it would help the American public understand why the journalistic class has been so studiously quiet about the flagrant illegality of the scheme.
