Hutchison won’t run for governorAssociated Press

AUSTIN – U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison announced Friday that she will run for another Senate term, ending months of speculation that she would challenge Texas Gov. Rick Perry for the Republican nomination in 2006.

Campaign manager Terry Sullivan said the statement was no hoax.

“It’s serious. The statement is what it is. It’s correct,” Sullivan said.

Hutchison had long been considered a likely challenger to Perry, who is seeking his second full term.
